Keep the Promise Coalition
Disability Expo & Candidate Forum Questions

Please see the following message from Stan Kosloski, Executive Director of the CT Disability Advocacy Collaborative (CDAC) about the upcoming Disability Expo at the CT Expo Center in Hartford, CT on August 28th as well as two great flyers to use during campaign season:

Click here for disability talking points to use in interactions with candidates for Governor and the State Legislature.

Click here for a brochure entitled "Your Home, Your Way" about choice for CT residents when it comes to receiving Long Term Care services and supports, including a question you can pose to CT candidates.

Greetings:

As the date for the 2010 Disability Convention and Expo approaches, we are again making transportation stipends available to organizations that can help folks get to the CT Expo Center on August 28. You will get a $200 stipend, plus mileage reimbursement for every four people you transport to Hartford. Attached is a flyer about the event as well as a form for you to fill out and send in to register as a transportation provider. Don't miss this opportunity to help transport disadvantaged individuals in your area to Hartford and experience this exciting event we are planning. Also attached is the document the Collaborative has produced entitled "The Challenge for the Next Governor". We are presenting the document to the candidates for Governor, but we also want to encourage organizations and individuals at the local level to use the document as "talking points" in interactions they might have with state Rep and Senate candidates from their area. Perhaps your group might take the lead on such an endeavor in your area of the state. Thanks for your support.

Stan Kosloski,
Executive Director of the CT Disability Advocacy Collaborative

As always, please feel free to call (800) 215-3021; (860) 882-0236 or email KTP at: keepthepromise@namict.org with any questions or concerns you might have. KTP would be happy to support your local efforts to hold/attend Candidate Forums - we can provide fact sheets, candidate questions, KTP blue ribbon buttons, and assistance with the process. It is vitally important to impact this year's elections and ask important questions about community mental health care and housing!
